Interview DustDevil (DD) for Ultra Dark Radio / Max Demian for BABYLONIA (B)

DD: Hi, i hope is all well with you

B: Hi!
First of all thanks a lot for this interview and for your support!
Yes, everything’s fine with us, thanks! We are just a little bit tired as we are totally absorbed by the recording of the new album (our second album) that has been keeping us busy for the last months.

DD: How do you find your way to the music?

B: Well, let’s say that is music that finds the way to reach us J!
We have an instinctive and natural approach, almost ”wild”, to our music and its creation. Mostly during the composing phase, very often ideas come by their own, suddenly, and find a way to become concrete in a free and spontaneous way.
More rationality is required, instead, during the production, when we have to sew the ”dress” the songs have to wear, choosing the better sonorities and musical directions.

DD: What do you prefer more, Studio or Live?

B: They are two different realities, both extremely interesting: I personally find more satisfactory composing songs or lyrics than working in the studio, but I must admit that live performances are often very funny and exciting!

DD: Any Live Gigs in Germany 2007/2008?

B: We hope so! We have already planned some ”live” dates abroad at the end of 2007, in concomitance with the release of our second album, but we expect to add more dates at the beginning of 2008.
In the recent past we’ve had the great pleasure to play in Berlin and Frankfurt, and I must say that performing in the native land of electronic music has been really exciting!

DD: What are your plans for 2008?

B: As already explained, we’d like to promote our second album performing live mostly at the beginning of 2008. I don’t exclude the release of one/two singles too, that, as per BABYLONIA tradition, could include unpublished material and various remixes.

DD: New Album ?

B: The new album, whose title is deliberately still ”top-secret”, will contain more electronic sonorities together with minimal and ”cleaner” arrangements. As in the first album, we are using the acoustic piano and guitars that melt with synthesizers and computers sounds.
I must say that the new album will contain the anger, the doubts, the fears and the questions that have been my ”partners” for the last 2 years, often tormenting me and turning my nights into a nightmare…

DD: Do you support Newcomer Bands?

B: We are totally interested and open to any kind of cooperation and synergy with other bands!
We’re talking about experiences that, if faced with passion and professionalism, enrich all the parts involved; in the past, we ourselves opened Client, Melotron and many others concerts.

DD: Have you, or Bandmembers Sideprojects ?

B: Good question! Yes, I have to say that there are a couple of projects parallel to BABYLONIA in the air: one of them involves me (Max Demian) and the other one involves Rob Rox.
We’ll see in the future if these (at the moment) simple ideas, will turn into something concrete.

DD: Something you want to tell to our Users ?

B: We’d like to invite them all to come and visit our MySpace profile (www.myspace.com/babylonia), to listen to the peculiar synth-pop of our debut album ”Later Tonight” and to leave a comment!
